Usage:

  • Heat treatment salts: Used in molten salt baths for steel and iron hardening, tempering, and carburizing (800–1,000°C) — provides excellent thermal stability and heat transfer
  • Barium salt production: Key raw material for manufacturing precipitated barium sulphate (BaSO₄), barium carbonate, barium chromate and other barium compounds
  • PVC heat stabilizer: Used in synthesis of barium-zinc composite heat stabilizers for PVC compounds in cable insulation, pipes and profiles
  • Wastewater treatment: Removes sulphate ions from industrial effluent via precipitation as insoluble BaSO₄
  • Chemical analysis: Standard laboratory reagent for quantitative sulphate ion determination (gravimetric and turbidimetric methods)
  • Textile and leather: Dyeing auxiliary and component in leather tanning processes

Safety note: Barium chloride is toxic — proper PPE (gloves, eye protection, respirator) required for handling. Full MSDS provided with each shipment.

Packing: 25 kg net per woven bag or drum; custom packaging available.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Keep containers tightly closed. Minimum shelf life: 2 years under proper storage conditions.

Applications

Barium chloride dihydrate is one of the most important barium compounds in industrial chemistry. In heat treatment processes, it is used in molten salt baths for hardening and tempering steel, providing uniform heat transfer at temperatures of 850–1050°C. The PVC and polymer industry uses barium chloride as a raw material for producing barium-zinc (Ba/Zn) stabiliser systems. In wastewater treatment, barium chloride precipitates sulphate ions as insoluble barium sulphate (BaSO₄), effectively removing sulphate from industrial effluents. It is also used in the manufacture of barium carbonate, barium sulphate, and other barium-containing chemicals. In electronics, high-purity barium chloride is a starting material for barium titanate (BaTiO₃) capacitors. Textile manufacturers use it as a mordant and weighting agent for certain fibres. Safety note: barium chloride is moderately toxic due to the soluble Ba²⁺ ion; appropriate handling precautions must be observed.
