Usage:
Trimesoyl Chloride (TMC) is a key monomer in the manufacture of thin-film composite (TFC) polyamide membranes used in:
1. Reverse Osmosis Membranes: Widely used in seawater desalination and high-purity water treatment systems worldwide.
2. Nanofiltration Membranes: Applied in water softening, dye removal, and pharmaceutical purification processes.
3. Gas Separation: Used in membranes for industrial gas separation and purification.
Packing: 25 kg per fiber drum. Custom packaging available upon request.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and heat. Keep containers tightly sealed.
Applications
Beyond membrane manufacturing, TMC is used as a cross-linking reagent in polymer synthesis, where its three acyl chloride groups react with polyamine monomers to form highly cross-linked polyamide networks with excellent selectivity and mechanical strength. TMC is also used in the production of specialty polyester resins and polybenzimidazole (PBI) polymers with high thermal stability for aerospace applications. In the pharmaceutical industry, it serves as an acylating agent for drug synthesis. TMC must be handled under dry, inert conditions due to its high reactivity with water; it hydrolyses rapidly to trimesic acid upon exposure to moisture.
