Applications

EDTA Fe 13% is one of the most widely used chelated iron fertilisers in horticulture and agriculture. Iron deficiency (lime-induced chlorosis) causes yellowing of young leaves while veins remain green, significantly reducing photosynthesis and crop yields. EDTA Fe is effective at soil pH 4–7; for soils above pH 7, EDDHA Fe or DTPA Fe are more appropriate choices. Crops that commonly benefit include citrus, stone fruits, roses, tomatoes, blueberries, and ornamental plants. Typical rates are 2–5 kg/ha for foliar spray or 3–10 kg/ha for soil fertigation. Beyond agriculture, EDTA Fe is used as an iron fortification agent in food products such as flour and infant formula, and as a deodorant and fixer in photographic processing solutions.
