Usage:
- Soil structure improvement: Humate molecules bind clay particles and improve soil aggregation, increasing aeration and water-holding capacity in both sandy and clay soils. Sandy soils treated with humate retain 20–30% more water.
- CEC increase: Adds negatively charged binding sites that hold Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, K⁺ and NH₄⁺ — reducing nutrient leaching and improving fertilizer use efficiency.
- Chelation of micronutrients: Forms stable complexes with Fe, Zn, Mn and Cu, keeping them plant-available even in alkaline or calcareous soils.
- Root development: Stimulates lateral root elongation and increases the nutrient uptake surface area, leading to stronger, more resilient plants.
- Microbial activity: Serves as a carbon source for beneficial soil bacteria and fungi, improving overall soil biology.
- Fertilizer additive: Coating NPK granules with 1–2% potassium humate reduces nutrient lock-up and improves nitrogen use efficiency.

Applications
Potassium humate is widely used in both soil application and fertigation programmes. In degraded or compacted soils, it improves aggregate stability and water-holding capacity, reducing irrigation frequency. As a root-growth stimulator, it promotes lateral root development and root hair density, increasing the effective absorption surface area. In combination with NPK fertilizers, potassium humate reduces fertilizer losses by preventing nitrate leaching and phosphorus fixation, improving nutrient use efficiency by up to 30%. It is effective across a pH range of 5–8 and compatible with most liquid fertilizers. Common application rates are 2–5 kg/ha as foliar spray or 10–20 kg/ha as soil drench. It is also used in seed priming treatments to improve germination rates and seedling vigour under stress conditions.
